Mission Statement
The Center for Restorative Programs offers an alternative or supplemental process to the justice system for teens and young adults. The organization brings together young offenders and victims in a face-to-face meeting to address the personal nature of the offense and, where indicated, to negotiate compensation for the victim. Through this direct service, the Center for Restorative Programs seeks to introduce to the Valley the concept of restorative justice, a justice in which the victim, the offender, and the community are involved in a search for solutions which promote repair, reconciliation and reassurance. The organization also offers training and consulting to schools to develop or enhance school-based conflict resolution programs, peer mediation, bullying prevention and restorative alternatives to suspension. The newest addition to services is Parent-Teen mediation for families experiencing the normal range of adolescent conflict issues.
